From Sandra:
I have made several major changes in the last 5 years.  My husband was offered a job down in Tucson, AZ and we decided to accept.  We love Tucson.  We still have our  lake home  by Fergus Falls and go back  up there when we can.  In addition to moving,  I accepted a new position as the Chief Operating Officer for a regional insurance agency based in Phoenix.  As a result I  am working and traveling more than ever.

From Ed:
Not a whole lot has changed over the past 5 years other than growing older.  Our oldest daughter Sarah recently graduated from St. Cloud State with her teaching degree.  She's moved back home with us, so we've got a full house again.  Jennifer will be starting her 3rd year at St. Catherine's this fall working on her accounting degree.  Our youngest, Kayla, will be a Junior in high school and is always busy with sports.

I'm still working at Target, doing much of the same type of work I did 5 years ago, designing software for Target's check-out lanes.  I try to play golf when I can and attend many of Kayla's sporting events.

Beth has changed carreers and is now a social worker at North Memorial hospital in Minneapolis.  She enjoys that much more than the accounting jobs she had worked at.

We try to get away for a yearly trip to add additional Major League baseball parks to our list of those we've visited.  We're going to New York and Philly in August to add a couple more.

We spend what time we can at our lake place in Sauk Centre on Sauk Lake.  The plan is to someday be able to build a home at the lake and possibly retire there someday.

Since the last reunion...

Unchanged…. Most of the important things have not changed much for me.  I’m still married (28 yrs) and live in Fergus Falls.  I feel very fortunate that I have not yet had any major life or health troubles.  I am very glad that I can still do my favorite hobbies of fishing, hunting, water skiing, snowmobiling, and riding & racing dirt bikes.

Different....

-Our two sons  are moved out and graduated from college.   Our oldest son lives in Albuquerque, NM and our youngest lives in Fargo.  We have one granddaughter and another is on the way.
-We've done some traveling with REAL vacations.  Our past "vacations" typically involved somebody at a starting line and wearing a helmet  (= racing).  It's good to take relaxing vacations and have a nice suntan in the middle of the winter.

-My work is different than 5 yrs ago. I no longer work directly for a large company (the jerks closed the plant and transferred the remaining production to cheap labor Mexico).   So after that ended, I didn't want to move just to jump into the same pile of corporate politics as before, so I'm trying something different-  I now work as a Contract Engineer.   I am still doing the same type of work- I design custom automation machines, but I work at home most days and travel to the customer as required.  I like it much better than a permanent position, even though I don't get vacation & sick days or good insurance etc.    The main downside is that I'm not always employed and often have to scout for work (like right now), but that isn't really so bad either- the time off is good, if not for too long.   Let's hope the economy turns around.

Looking forward to seeing everybody at the reunion.   See you then!

From Brenda:
Not much has changed in Hawick!  We are still laying the asphalt in the area & sealcoating cities & counties around the great state of Minnesota.  I am usually left at home to run the office, while they go on what I call working vacations.

In our free time, we enjoy golfing & trying to schedule vacation around hockey in the winter.

Our sons, Jesse (18) & Tanner (16), are working on the crew with Troy.  They keep us busy in the winter playing hockey.  Jeese will be a Senior and Tanner a Junior when school starts this fall.

We are now in-laws, as our daughter, Brittany (23), married Eric Frank in October of 2008.    They bought a home about 3 miles from us.  Brittany also graduated from St Cloud State in December of 2008.  Eric's parents are classmates Donny & Vicky Frank.

Lori and I have been in Olympia for 15 years. I left VeriSign after 6+ years and now work for the State of Washington's Department of Information Services.

We spend as much time as we can exploring the west. We're not doing as much hiking and backpaking as we used to....now it seems we spend more time visiting our state wineries and exploring curvy roads with the Harley or Miata. Life is good.

We wish everyone well and hope to see everyone at the 35th or 40th.

From Sandra:

We have had some changes since the last reunion - the biggest being our move to Montevideo.  We've been here for 3 years now and it seems like we are still adjusting.  It was a major change for our youngest, Joshua, being he was going to be a sophmore and moving to a new school was not part of his plans.  But, he finally made the adjustment and graduated this year.  He will be going off to college in Mankato and will be majoring in Pschology.  He would like to go a bit further and finish with a degree in Psychiatry (maybe I will be his first client!)
Other changes that make us both feel old is gradchildren!  We have two granddaughters - Natalie (3 yr) and Chloe (17 months).  Both girls are a special joy and we love having them visit.  Natalie is Uncle Joshua's biggest cheerleader at his sporting events.  Both girls belong to our second daughter, Kelli.
I have held two different positions since our move.  We made the move to Monte when I took a position as Dietary manager at Renville Health
Services, a nursing home in Renville.  I loved my job but when the opportunity came to work in our town I applied at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital and got the job as the Nursing Administrative Assistant.  It's different from anything I have done and is a challenge each day.  Lots of stress...something I could do without.  Todd also had job changes because of the move.  He worked at Firestone just across the street from our home.  Currently he took a position at Equity Elevator & Trading Company in Wood Lake as the Plant manager.  This is something he has done in the past and is happy with the job change.
Our girls, Heather, Kelli & Gretchen are all in different spots and come home as they are able.  Heather is a teacher at Mitchell Christian School in Mitchell, SD.  She taught school in Romania for 3 years and continues to travel there in the summer for short term missions outreaches.  Kelli manages a salon in Monticello and has the two girls.  She will be getting married in January.  Gretchen works and lives in St. Cloud.  She's the assistant manager at Aeropostale in the mall.
Our days are filled with Joshua's sporting activities and work.  Previously we planted pumpkins, squash and gourds which we sold each October.  It was fun to see the kids come and pick out pumpkins and take pictures in their costumes.  (I won't miss the back breaking work!)  Not much else happens here.  See you at the reunion!
